The Mortimer's fall 2010
Well here we are, Thanksgiving is over and advent just started...getting ready for Jesus' birthday. Here in the Mortimer household, we have started the decorations including the advent wreath, outdoor lights and Santa, and some of the indoor decorations. We plan to get our tree next weekend and finishing our decorations inside.
My PhD program has been challenging, but I have three more weeks and three papers left to accomplish, then I am off till January 24th.
Work has been exhausting, but the clinical group I have is doing well. I have to lecture for four hours next week and write exam questions and grade papers..the fun stuff!!!
DJ got his first report card, he past everything, but has his challenges each day. he was diagnosed with a vision problem and has started therapy. It is called accommodative infacility. He also has visual processing problems such as right/left awareness (like b and d, he gets them confused), visual processing speed, visual memory, and visual motor skills.
He has made a new friend, Daniel, and they have become best buds.
DJ is also doing ice hockey and wants to do indoor soccer. He started on Holy Name's team for ice hockey. They are a young team, I think there are only 2-3 5th graders and most of the team is new to ice hockey..but they have a great goalie!!! They had two games so far and lost both. I also signed him up for a developmental indoor soccer program, it starts next Sunday, so we shall see if he likes it, we may sign him up for spring outdoor soccer.
That is it for now..I would like to get some of my scrap books together...any ideas?

Independence day 2010
The date says it all..Independence Day...Dave, DJ, and I are yet again at the Melchiorre's ( Dave's eldest brother, Ken). We have had a tradition that every year we visit them, even in the case of hurricanes, we visit. So since they moved to DC area we have started coming down over the 4th of July. This year is no different. On our first day here ( Friday) we went to the Blue Ridge Crab House and had the most amazing ( and expensive) crabs, Saturday we hung out together, Al and I mostly, went shopping and then cook dinner for a king [grilled pork with an amazing glaze, my clam chowder, shrimp, smelt (only Ken ate those), grilled veggies, corn and then pie from the famous ( Southern Living famous) Mom's Pie in Leesburg, Va] oh and we can not forget the wine....now today we are headed out on the boat in the Potomac..going tubing and then seeing the fireworks from the water in DC..then we head home tomorrow and look forward to a nasty hot week...last week of clinical!!!

Spring 4th grade Happenings...
Well as you can see May started with an orchestra concert, then we had a Title One reading program with reptiles, a band concert. Dave was away in North Carolina, we also had the Flyers games, then DJ received his religious award for cub scouts, then Colonial Days, more Flyers, and ended the month with a bang, a 4th grade show with DJ and his classmates singing and then of course the hospitalization of both my in laws (out now, and doing well...)....So welcome June where we have the end of 4th grade for DJ, moving to a new school for 5th grade, summer days at the pool, and then in July the end of my career at Reading....

A mix match of May occurances...

Well tell you what has been going on...1st and foremost, I got a new job. AS of August 28th, I will be employed by West Chester University. I will be an assistant professor teaching senior level nursing students. It is a nine month position and I am so happy and look forward to the many opportunities!!!
Last weekend, DJ and I with about 40 other scouts went camping celebrating the 100 years of scouting! We had fun and it is great camping with the boy scouts as they do everything for themselves!!!
I started my 1st week of my last semester at Reading..so I am tired!!
